Millstream to Exmouth

sunny

Since we had only got into Millstream at sunset, we got up early and spent the time around sunrise driving through the park. I had once laughed at an old lady who had told me she goes 'wildflower chasing' around Australia - but after seeing the countryside of Millstream adorned with so many wild and wonderfully bright and beautiful flowers, I don't think it's such a bad hobby after all.

After filling up at the Rio Tinto owned town of Panawonica, we randomly came across 'the boot tree!!'. We were so excited as I had read about this mysterious tree somewhere and had been saving my lonely ugg boot for the sole purpose of its decoration. We had no idea of its whereabouts but had held on to the remaining boot ever since losing the other one on the road somewhere between Yulara and Erldunda (as some silly billy left them on the roof).

After that bit of excitement for the day, we continued down the uneventful road towards Exmouth and arrived in time for lunch. We sussed out the thriving CBD which was about as busy as Merriwa would be on a Sunday afternoon, then booked into the caravan park and made a bee line for the showers.

As new, clean ladies, we set out to explore in and around the thriving metropolis of Exmouth. On the recommendation of the lady at the caravan park, we went for a drive up 'shothole canyon'. The scenery was pretty cool, but after having been in the car since 6 in the morning, we decided that we weren't in our most appreciative moods and would be better off out of the car.

Since it was Saturday afternoon and we were on a coastal town, we thought we'd find a good possie by the water and have an afternoon beer whilst pondering our next movements. It wasn't through lack of trying, but all we managed to stumble across was a seedy 'tavern' that was connected to a bottle shop and had about as much atmosphere as a dirty toilet cubicle.

So feeling a little disheartened, we grabbed our groceries and a bottle of red and had a crazy Saturday night back at the caravan park.
